We have already entered November, which means we are on to our second Principle of Success, Faith.
Any impulse of thought which is repeatedly passed on to the subconscious mind is, finally, accepted and acted upon by the subconscious mind, which proceeds to translate that impulse into its physical equivalent, by the most practical procedure available. — N. Hill
Underlying message: You must first convince your subconscious mind that your desires are your reality, then your subconscious will take care of the rest.
How do you put this into practice? Many use affirmations to transition their subconscious into a place of creation.
As you confirm and reaffirm your desired result through this repetitive nature, you are slowly convincing your subconscious that it is, in fact, true.
Once you start to believe and “identify with” this newfound reality, you will start to see the world in a different light. Things that were not accessible to you before will suddenly start to appear in your favor.
Your reality starts to migrate to that which you have called upon through your affirmations. Whether they are appearing for the first time or were always there and you just did not “see” it before is unknown because you cannot go back. You cannot unsee your new reality.
If you do not truly believe that you can achieve this new reality then this process will never work. You see, the reality you live in is totally dependent on you and how you see yourself. You direct how others react to you through the reality you have created for yourself. You are in charge of this whole production.
This is one of the things I love about this awareness. Every day, every moment, you have the ability to change your reality by changing how you perceive yourself. Now, I did not say this was easy. Many of us encounter difficulty in changing our perception of ourselves because it has been created from years and years of personal experiences. This was before we understood that we have power in how we interpret and react to our life experiences. Changing all that history takes time and practice. It requires setting an intention for yourself every day and being constantly aware when you break from that intention. Be kind to yourself when you have strayed and find yourself back in your own ways. Try and find a trigger, or better yet, a “glimmer” that will bring you back to who you are meant to be.
The practice of turning your Desire (the first Principle of Success) into reality takes time. Desire because you have to want it so badly that you cannot be easily deterred. It is not an easy process, if it was, everybody would have everything they ever wanted. Desire weeds out those who do not have true conviction.
What do I do? I am so glad you asked.
I have written before about my morning practice where I spend 10 minutes using Tony Robbin’s priming exercise. One minute to get focused, 3 minutes to be grateful, 3 minutes to accept the gifts of the universe, and 3 minutes to envision the future you desire. The things I am grateful for every morning change, sometimes it was something amazing that happened the day before, and sometimes I am just grateful for the peaceful time in the morning with the breeze in my face. The three things I focus my desires on are always the same. Write a book, do this work full time, and lastly, spend 3 months living with my partner and dog on the West Coast.
I am super excited to be able to announce the last one is already coming to fruition. This may not sound like a totally impossible feat but it required a lot of coordination and luck to work together and all at the right time to make this dream a reality. And once it did, I still had to risk losing my job over it. Luckily it did not come to that but it was pretty darn close.
The other two desires are still in the works. I have ideas about my book all the time and have started various drafts. I keep telling myself if only I had the time to fully immerse in the process, I could get it down. Yes, I know, just an excuse and if I really wanted it bad enough I would be working on it every free minute I have. Well, it just so happens I have a very long cross-country road trip coming up with plenty of time in a car. Maybe this will spur my creative side to bang out a best seller.
All in all, I wanted to put my blog together to inspire others that these principles work if you work them so I wanted to share that one of my first three desires has already taken hold. Success.
